Jeffrey Jacobsen Receives Nebraska Defense Counsel Association Master Emeritus Award
Jeffrey H. Jacobsen, of the law firm of Jacobsen, Orr, Lindstrom & Holbrook, P.C., L.L.O., was honored May 31 with the 2013 Master Emeritus Award by the Nebraska Defense Counsel Association (NDCA). The award, given in recognition of a legal career of superior representation of defendants in civil actions while upholding the highest professional and ethical standards, was presented at the NDCA Annual Meeting by NDCA president-elect Bob Lannin. Dan Lindstrom, also of Jacobsen, Orr, Lindstrom & Holbrook, spoke to the association members on Jacobsen’s behalf.
“Jeff Jacobsen was the first president of the NDCA and was instrumental in getting the organization off the ground,” Lindstrom said. “He’s had a distinguished career in litigation and legal defense, and I think it is very fitting that he be honored this year.”
A defense attorney practicing throughout the state for more than 45 years, Jacobsen’s primary practice areas include insurance, medical malpractice, personal injury and product liability defense, as well as business, probate and other litigation. He is especially well-known for a long career in defense in professional negligence cases in the medical field.
Long active in the legal community, Jacobsen is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served as the chair of the Nebraska State Committee. He is also a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and has served in the House of Delegates and on the Executive Council.
Additionally, he is a member and past president of the Buffalo County Bar Association and a member of the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys, the Association of Insurance Attorneys and the Defense Research Institute. Jacobsen has also been recognized for a number of years as a Nebraska “Super Lawyer” in litigation by the legal rating service of that name.
“I have always believed that people are entitled to the best legal defense that can be mounted, a philosophy that is completely in line with the NDCA and its goals,” Jacobsen said. “I know the standards this award represents, and I am honored to be recognized among the attorneys who have received it.”
