Four Nebraska Industry Leaders Join Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association Board

Four executives from leading Nebraska life science businesses have been elected to the board of directors for the Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association, board chairman Rob Owen announced.

Elected to the board were:

  • Gloria Thesenvitz, president of Nova-Tech, a Grand Island company specializing in aseptic manufacturing services
  • Stewart Bauck, general manager of agrigenomics at GeneSeek, a Lincoln-based, leading commercial agricultural genetics service laboratory
  • Craig Tuttle, former CEO of Transgenomic, an Omaha-based company that provides biotechnology products and services globally to advance personalized medicine
  • Josh Johnson, business development director of Benchmark Biolabs of Lincoln, which offers a suite of services to streamline and support the development process for biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovators

“These four leaders have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the life science industry in Nebraska, and we’re excited to have them on our board,” said Owen, who is also counsel for Streck Inc. in Omaha.  “Nebraska’s life science industry is growing, and we want to make sure that we support this sector as it continues to create new businesses and new jobs and play an important role in improving lives.”

The new members join 12 other members on the board that includes leaders from academia, business and government. Formed in 2005, the association is dedicated to the development and growth of the state’s bioscience industry.

“As we look ahead to 2014, we will continue to focus on education, advocacy, workforce development and providing networking opportunities for our members,” said Phil Kozera, Bio Nebraska executive director.

In addition to those activities, the association also sponsors the annual Governor’s Bioscience Award, an honor bestowed during the association’s annual meeting. Tuttle received the 2013 award. More information about upcoming events and membership can be found at www.bionebraska.org.
