Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic Will Offer New Pet Boarding Options to Area Residents
BD Construction, Inc. of Kearney, Neb., one of the Midwest’s leading construction companies, is building a 9,800-square-foot pet boarding facility adjacent to Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic in Kearney. When completed in spring 2014, The Retreat will provide 13 individual suite-style lodges with an additional 44 runs for dogs and condos for cats. The Retreat will also have indoor facilities for training and dog day care.
“These are suites that will offer pets a lot more comfort than standard pet boarding facilities,” said Mark Benjamin, president of BD Construction. “Each suite features tile walls and floors and is individually lighted, with access to a play area for supervised exercise and socialization.”
The free-standing structure is going up just south of the Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic and, although separate, will coordinate with the existing structure, built 11 years ago.
“As the business has grown, so has the demand for boarding and day care,” said Dr. Christie Hirschfeld, Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic owner. “We have done a great deal of research in the design of the new facility to make sure all our guests are as comfortable and stress-free as possible during their stay.”
In addition to boarding for dogs and cats, The Retreat will have its own exam room, office and reception area as well as accommodations for birds and other exotic pets.
“We are excited to offer the community a large indoor space where pet owners are able to spend quality training time and playtime with their pets,” Hirschfeld said. “It is especially rewarding to see both humans and animals benefit as positive relationships build between people and their pets.”
