Camargo Welcomes Postdoctoral Interns to its Durham, N.C., Office
(Durham, NC; August 4, 2015) Camargo Pharmaceutical Services, the leading global drug development strategist specializing in the 505(b)(2) approval pathway, welcomed four postdoctoral interns to its Durham, N.C., office in June.
Through partnerships with academic organizations including Duke University, Camargo is able to offer postdoctoral students opportunities to gain real-world experience by working with its research services team members as they support clients through the stages of drug development.
“The program is not only a great opportunity for the students, but for Camargo as well,” said Dr. Ruth Stevens, Camargo chief scientific officer and executive vice president. “Our scientists benefit from the new perspectives and expertise our interns offer. Several of our research services associates started in the internship program, so there’s always the potential for interns to continue their careers with Camargo.”
This is Camargo’s fourth class of interns, and, given the continued success of the program, Stevens said she expects Camargo will offer more internships in the future.
The interns come from varying educational backgrounds, holding Ph.D.’s in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, and cell and development biology. Before coming to Camargo, each intern was completing postdoctoral research in various areas, including pediatrics, toxicology, cell biology and, for one intern, preclinical and clinical research in multiple therapeutic areas.
“I was drawn to the program because it offered an opportunity to gain work experience by using the skills I honed in academia,” said Johannah Sanchez-Adams, one of Camargo’s interns. “I feel lucky to work with so many friendly, knowledgeable people, while contributing to real projects and learning about my future career.”
